1) STARTING POINTS 1

CHOOSING A BRIEF

To start off my coursework I had to choose what I wanted it to be all about which was great! When it come to choosing my brief; what products I wanted to create, I wanted to produce something that would appeal to me the most. This is what I had to choose from and what I actually chose...

When I looked at the brief the second choice stuck out at me right away. The choice highlighted in red was the one I chose.

The reasons I chose to create a film promotion package was because it included a trailer and I love films; I would have already have quite a good understanding of film trailers since I have seen so many.

Along with the trailer I had to create two of the following choices: a website homepage, a film magazine front cover, or a film poster. I chose the homepage and a poster. I chose to make a homepage because I have experience with HTML and website design so that would be an advantage for me. The reasons I chose to create a poster was because I love the idea of how posters can have a certain impact on the viewer through semiotics. Overall I love designing and creative activities, I believe making a promotion package for film would be exciting. This choice stuck out at me and I knew this would be the one chosen. I did not choose a film magazine because in my AS media coursework I had already created magazine related products and I did not want to repeat myself; I wanted to try something new.

I then was deciding what genre I wanted to make my film. At this point the three genres that stuck out at me was COMEDY, ACTION or HORROR.

I had considered many genres to base my film on...

Word Cloud I created on Photoshop.
I had a brief look at all of these genres and to me, HORROR, COMEDY and ACTION seemed the most exciting and thrilling to create and watch as films! Which suits my personality...

Eventually I moved on to choosing the Horror genre. The thing I love about horror films is the anticipation you when you are waiting for something terrifying to happen and the adrenaline you experience when you get a fright! I want my audience to feel this way because horror films create an impact and make you walk away with a sense of enjoyment. Maybe by choosing horror I can include a little action as well.

HORRORRRRRRRRRRRRRR
